Privacy and removal

What a listing shows

A listing shows the homestay's name, town and state, a map pin, price and facilities where known, photos the owner added, and the WhatsApp number guests use to reach the owner. These are details the homestay has already made public.

What stays private

If you are an owner and you list or claim your place, we also keep your email address, your street address if you give it, and your answers to "How you run it". These are never shown to guests. Your email is used only to let you log in and to write to you about your listing.

Removing or hiding your listing

  1. If you have an owner login: open your listing and choose "Remove my listing from Anjung". It disappears from the map and the site at once.
  2. If you do not: use "This is my place, please remove it" on the listing page, or the form on the Contact page. We take it down as soon as we read it.
  3. To have the record erased for good, say so in your message.

What we record about visitors

  1. We count, per day, how many times a listing is opened, which filters are used and how many times a WhatsApp button is tapped. These are plain counts. They hold no name, no phone number and nothing that identifies you.
  2. When a search finds nothing, we keep the search itself (for example "Perlis, under RM150, pool") so we know what is missing. Not who searched.
  3. Your internet address is used for a moment to stop abuse of the forms. It is not stored.
  4. Two small cookies: one remembers your language, one keeps an owner logged in. No advertising and no tracking by other companies.

Photos

Photos an owner uploads are re-made by our server before they are stored: camera details such as the place and time the photo was taken are removed, and "anjungstay.com" is added in a corner.

Where the data is

On a rented server in Germany that we manage ourselves. Emails we send pass through an email delivery company (Resend). When you search for a place name, the name is sent to OpenStreetMap to find it on the map.
